Beschreibung
Internationalization journeys We will outline in this book that internationalization represents a much desired corporate endeavor, yet also one that is not yet fully mastered. Performance suffers at various stages in the internationalization journey, contingent upon the country of origin, the chosen path and the skills companies built up in order to master the adversity. A key variable to understand better in internationalization journeys is organizational culture, a construct which has been fascinating researchers and practitioners for a long time. The study presented in this book does not understand organizational culture as a fatalistic construct. Cultures can be formed to some extent and this book outlines the adaptations needed at different stages of internationalization journeys of German versus US companies. Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Amann has been designing and delivering executive education seminars for more than 18 years. He now serves as academic director and professor of strategy and leadership at HEC Paris in Qatar. Next to his doctorate in international strategic management from the University of St.Gallen, he graduated from the major faculty development programs worldwide, such as Harvard Universitys MLE, IMDs ITP, IESEs IFP, and EFMD IDP. He published 17 books for executives and compiled more than 100 case studies for his executive education seminars. He won several global and pan-European prizes for his research as well as teaching efforts. Together with his colleagues at HEC Paris, he won the Enterprise Agility Award and Entrepreneur of the Year Award 2015 in Qatar. He is also the recipient of the GTU Award for Contributions to Ethics and Humanism in Management Education Dr. Shiban Khan is a corporate sustainability management expert with a strong background in international business and multicultural management. She has provided corporate sustainability consulting and training to organizations in Asia and Europe, from grassroots to multinationals. She currently heads Arminius Strategy Consultants headquartered in Dubai and leads a number of projects for international telecom, real estate and trading firms. She specializes in cross-cultural management, business in Asia, sustainable internationalization, international competitiveness, corporate governance, strategic management and corporate environmentalism. Shiban received her Doctorate in International Management from the University of St.Gallen, Switzerland. She also holds a Master in Environmental Studies from the University of Pennsylvania, USA.
