John Steele is Professor of the History of the Exact Sciences in Antiquity and Chair of the Department of Egyptology and Assyriology at Brown University. He is a historian of astronomy and related disciplines with a particular focus on Babylonian astronomy. He is particularly interested in the interconnections between different aspects of Babylonian astronomy (eg observational, predictive, descriptive, and theoretical) and between Babylonian astronomy and other parts of Babylonian scholarship (e.g. astrology, divination, and mathematics).
