She was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the United States of America's highest civilian honor, in 1998. She is editor in chief of Leader to Leader, the premier leadership journal, and coeditor of numerous books on leadership including The Drucker Foundation Future Series book The Leader of the Future (Jossey-Bass).
