The book describes the archery and related equipment of India from the oldest civilizations until today. It includes the Indian subcontinent with parts of Pakistan, today‘s Sri Lanka, the now politically Indian group of Andaman and Nicobar is- lands and the neighbouring countries Tibet, Bhutan and Nepal.
In the course of its turbulent history, this area was not only the home of ancient indigenous… peoples, but also the destination of various expanding neighbours, such as the Greeks, Mongols, Parthians, Scythians, Aryans, and White Huns.
For more than 300 years, most of this subcontinent was under the rule of the Islamic Moguls, for about 250 years under the influence of the English East India Company and most recently until 1947 a British colony.
All these invaders also influenced the archery technique of India with their bows and arrows, but as well other cultures such as the Romans and Chinese who traded with this rich subcontinent and ancient Ceylon trade were part of a cross-fertilization in this area.
Thus, this book describes not only the two well known Indian crab-bow and the steel bow, but also the bows of the various invaders. The rich bows and arrows of the indigenous people are also described in detail. Dieses Produkt haben wir gerade leider nicht auf Lager.
