The Author: Hyacinthe Ellis is a Lecturer in Social Psychology and Criminology at the University of the West Indies, Jamaica. She has also worked as Resident Tutor, in the Extra Mural Department of the University. She holds the Diploma in Public and Social Administration from the University of Oxford, the degrees of B.A. (Political Studies and Sociology) from the University of Hull and M.Sc. (Sociology) from the University of the West Indies; the Dr. rer. pol. «magna cum laude» from the University of Bremen. Hyacinthe Ellis is dedicated to teaching and the development of critical intellectual abilities among Caribbean students.
