On an excursion trip within the 'young cities' research project in may 2009 the film project 'Tehran - city of streets' was produced.
Trips by car - on the way between different points of interest in tehran inner city, the outskirts and the suburban hashtgerd - led through the streets, which amazingly surround the metropolitan area.
Some film stills from this movie are the basis for this book, an… attempt to approach the city of tehran from one of the most conventional, but in that case also most impressive ways.
The fact that the suburban area of tehran established the setting for the research project 'young cities' and one of its pilot projects, the LIFEcenter makes it imperative to first discover the city and establish the required background for the project work.
'Young cities - urban energy efficiency' is a research project on an urban and architectural planning to develop living space for people in the tehran-karaj region in iran. one important factor of a good working cityscape to consider is education. so an educational building for vocational training, exhibition, as place for communication and for information about sustainable planning and implementation and to heighten up the awareness about this themes, is getting planned and implemented, maybe a heart of the young city. It is called LIFEcenter.
