What is this AA Slogans Manual? It is compiled for eas-ier and quicker reflecting on AA program. The manual addresses the triune treatment principle used by Dr. Bob in his prescription to an alcoholic in recovery:
Trust God!
Clean house!
Help others!
AA slogans are of great importance for AA Program due to the fact that they are defined by AA members as »bits of wisdom« (GV, 10/2019, 49) or the… most profound truths − »I hear the most profound truths delivered in terms I can easily grasp« (GV, 1/2019, 14). Thus, a manual suggests a handful of wisdom for all members of AA: those who haven’t made a decision on working the steps yet, those who are working the Steps with their sponsors, those who are »loners« and belong to remote communities, those who reconsider the steps and the relapsers. Slo-gans are sorted in accordance with their reflection of the Step work; the wisdom collected in the manual aims at »figuring it out« by providing food for thought.
Why do we need this manual? The manual is based on slogans because of their unique function: »I know great many people who get a lot of relief from these sayings« (GV, 2/2019, 14); »Whether it was a discussion of the Steps or Slo-gans as they are applied to our present lives or history of AA, the focus was on recovery« (GV, 12/2019, 54); »I long for the days when AA didn’t seem so much like schoolwork. We lived by the slogans and we kept it simple by sharing our experi-ence, strength and hope with each other and the wet drunk« (GV, 1/2019, 5); »They give me more courage than any glass of wine ever did« (GV, 1/2019, 32).
