While researching this book, I realized that German culture is a broad and complex field that cannot be captured in a few words. But it is precisely this diversity that makes German culture so unique and exciting. In this respect, I wrote this book with the awareness that such an attempt is already bound to fail, because the number of cultural facets and the number of historical events and highlights are too large. If I did dare to do so, then it was to awaken my readers' own memories and reflections or to arouse a new, justified interest.
