Exposed in 1994, they misled federal prosecutors and German courts with the legend that they had worked for the CIA.
In her extraordinary life story the author describes how she - coming from a conservative Jewish family in Buffalo, New York - met the left-leaning sociology professor Jeffrey Schevitz. Instead of following their dreams and starting a new life in the GDR, they began a double life in West Germany, where they procured secret information, passing it on to the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of State Security.
