Rather than prescribing a single “correct” method, the book encourages composers to critically assess and choose notational strategies that best serve their artistic intentions and the practical realities of performance. Furthermore, the text addresses the existence of various compositional schools and pedagogical traditions, in which specific notational symbols and conventions have evolved through shared agreements among teachers at conservatories, academies, and universities. Understanding these conventions is essential for effective communication between composers and performers. Many contemporary composers employ innovative notational systems, extended performance techniques, and electronic media as integral elements of musical expression.
