The Myth of the “Green Hell”
Since it was built in the 1920s, the North Loop of the Nürburgring has become a racetrack full of surprises that commands respect. The experts spoke of it as the “longest and most difficult course in the world”. For “difficult” read “deadly”. Niki Lauda’s horrific accident brought an end to the use of the North Loop for Fomula 1 racing in 1976.
Nonetheless, the… legendary track has lost none of its fascination. Every weekend, private drivers love to put themselves to the test, enjoying the thrills that only the “Green Hell” can provide. Motorsport fanatic Stefan Bogner has now re-discovered the North Loop, capturing its magic forever with his camera. Despite their documentary nature, Bogner’s beautiful images are packed with the emotion and exciting details that people have come to expect from the talent behind photograph books like “Curves” and “Escapes” – combined with detailed information about the various sections of the track, its contours, the best overtaking opportunities and the right places to apply the brakes.
