This series aims to explain the importance of a fusion between dancing, teaching dance, dance medicine and science. This book series also serves dancers of all levels and styles on their way towards autonomy and maturity with regard to their own knowledge, wellbeing, and skill development. At the same time, it shines a special spotlight on teaching, training, and administrating personnel, society, politics, and media and their role in this development of the dancer, from little children to professional adult dancers. This series provides guidance why and how practical implementation of dance medicine and dance medical dance pedagogy can and must be achieved. Based on in-depth scientific background discussion of the great number of aspects involved, these books involve and address dancers as well as educators, clinicians and administrations.
Volume 1 – Basic Aspects of the Disciplines discusses performance enhancement & injury prevention in praxis and theory based on the background of the disciplines involved. This book lays the basis for the subsequent books of the series, relating aspects, goals, needs and demands in dance to what dance medicine and science can provide for dancers’, teachers’ and trainers’ health and performance.
