• Dinosaurs were not always gigantic and scary: most giant dinosaurs were gentle plant-eaters, whereas some smaller dinosaurs only weighed two kilograms.
• Dinosaurs were not mammals: ‘dino-saur’ means ‘terrible-lizard’ and lizards belong to a group of reptiles. Other reptiles are snakes, turtles and crocodiles. All lay eggs.
